Camping is something all children should experience! Sometimes getting the family together to go on a large trip can be exhausting, but camping at home is super easy! Just open your back door & appreciate nature without all the hassle. Try these fun ideas with your kids to save money & have a really fun stay-cation at the same time!
1. The Camp Site
Grab your kids & pitch a tent! Next, lay out your sleeping bags & build a camp fire! Can’t make a fire? Make a circle of rocks, put a few flashlights in the center, then make your s’mores in the microwave or over the stove inside the house!
2. Flower Jewelry
Find dandelions or any other wildflowers that might be growing in your yard. Easily link each flower by making a small slit in the middle of each stem. Then string a flower through the slit & continue the process until you have a complete necklace or bracelet!
3. S’mores
After dinner, grab a long stick to toast marshmallows over a fire until golden brown for yummy goodness! Check out these great recipes for unique variations!
4. Story Time
Next, gather around the campfire & tell funny or scary stories! Have your kids & their friends come up with their own tale to perform in front of the family! Run out of stories? Try cool camp songs!
5. Fun Flashlight Tag
One person is deemed “It” & must run around “tagging” other players by shining the flashlight on them!
6. Shadow Games
Hop inside the tent & bring a flash light! Point the light towards one side of the tent. One by one, have the kids try to make animals or shapes with their hands in front of the light, while everyone else guesses what it is! After someone guess the animal or shape correctly, the next player can have a turn!
7. Minty Sparks
This is a super fun activity that can be done throughout the night! Grab a bag of Wint-O-Green Lifesavers. Chomp on a mint with your mouth open & you’ll see sparks (that are totally safe)! Make sure to do this at night, so you can see the sparks clearly!
